Live Poker
Poker is the most popular casino card game in the world, with an air of glamour and intrigue that few other games can match. If you fancy taking part in a live online poker game, then you might want to take advantage of some of these tempting live poker offers:
What is Live Poker?
Poker is really a catch-all term for a wide number of card games that share a set of betting rules, such as Seven Card Stud, Texas Hold ‘Em and Omaha. In almost all versions of the game, the dealer deals a certain amount of cards to each player, and then various rounds of betting begin. Betting on the first round is compulsory, but after that the players have to choose whether to bet more to stay in the game or to get out of the game. Whether or not you stay in the game depends on how confident you are, or wish to appear, in your hand.
Real rules, the same game
It is possible to change your hand over the course of a game, usually by being dealt additional cards or by replacing cards previously dealt. If there is only one player left in the game at the end, they win the pot and are not obliged to show their hand. If there is more than one player still involved in the final round, a showdown will occur in which all the remaining players have to show their hand, and the player with the highest ranking hand wins.
Play any time of the day, for as long as you wish
The online version of the game is immensely popular, with millions of players all over the world. It is easy to see the appeal of online poker – it’s an involving game that can be played at any time of day, for as long as you like, and you don’t have to go to the trouble of getting to a casino and back, or organising a card game with your friends. Also, there’s no need to pay inflated casino bar prices, when the fridge is just a short walk away! However, some players miss the look and feel of a real casino poker game, which is where live poker comes in. In a live poker game, a real life dealer will deal the cards, and this will be relayed to the players via an internet video stream. The players can talk to the dealer, and to each other, with a microphone or via instant messaging to discuss rules, tactics, or indeed anything else between games. This, coupled with the visual appeal of a live video link, helps to recreate more of an authentic casino experience than you would get with automated, graphical games. At the moment, few live casinos are in a position to offer the more complex games such as Texas Hold ‘Em due to the logistical difficulties involved, but this is expected to change in the near future as live casinos become more established. However, if you want to experience a real casino poker thrill on your computer, then live poker really is the only way to go.
